Things You Should "NO" about the VT50 #VT50 #mountainbikes #ultrarun #VT #NH

NO-RVs
RVs are not allowed in our parking areas during race weekend. They take up to much room and we lose to many spaces. Tent camping in a designated area only is allowed. We are FULL for 2015. Mt. Ascutney State Park nearby has spots still available. (see below for RV options)
Please make arrangements to arrive race morning without your RV.

Mt. Ascutney State Park
Ascutney State Park, 1826 Back Mountain Road, Windsor, Vermont 05089.
5 miles from race start.
Reservations & Fees In-season information: 802-674-2060
General Information: 800-VERMONT800-VERMONT
Vermont State Parks
Season: Mid-May to October 15
Directions: From I-91 (Exit 8): Go .2 mi E on Rt 131 to stop light, turn left on Rt 5 for 1.2 mi, then bear left on Rt 44A for 2 miles. Entrance is on left.
More lodging options: http://vermont50.blogspot.com/p/area-lodging.html

NO-Car Camping this is stated because years ago when we allowed sleeping in the cars people were NOT using the port-o-lets and left quite a mess behind for us to clean up. And we do mean MESS!

NO-Pre-Racing the Course
Our landowners grant us use of their properties for ONE DAY and ONE DAY ONLY on Race Day. Please DO NOT ABUSE this by Pre-Racing the course. If they withdraw their permission we could lose this race.

NO-Headphones/Earbuds! Yes NO head phones Runners or Bikers. It is JUST too dangerous for this mix of athletes. Especially down the hills, and on the single-track. You will be DNF if seen. SAFETY FIRST PLEASE

NO-No friends or family on course riding or running with you!
Only participants with official car plaques are allowed on course. We have heard that there have been friends riding or running when they are not suppose to. Please ONLY registered participants on course or the landowners may start saying NO to us! Runners are allowed a pacer from Aid Station #9 to the finish.

Aid is allowed for both runners and bikes at these designated Aid Stations ONLY.
Aid Stations for Runners with Handler Access are Skunk Hollow, Greenall’s, and Johnsons.
Aid Stations for Bikers with Crew Access are Skunk Hollow and Johnsons.
Plaques are required to enter these Aid Station Parking areas.

One Car per participant and they need a permit to park. This includes the Relay Teams-one car per team, one member on course at any given time.
Permits available at packet pick up Saturday

Please Stay to The Right ON Our Roads!
Even though some of the course is on public roads and they are dirt roads, we still must keep to the right side. Do not ride or run blocking the local traffic.
Also your family and friends are not allowed to be following the course. This can DNF you. We need to make sure we keep the support of the communities we are disrupting. Please do your part!

NO-transferring of entry if you can not attend

NO-Littering
One of the key requests this year is to show our landowners and the local communities that all our participants will keep trash on the trails to a minimum. Although some of the trash may be left by accident, much of it was seen dropped. Please help and do your part. This problem is not just with the VT 50 but many races, and we, the Vermont 50 organizers would like to feel we can have bragging rights saying we are a very GREEN minded event and do not leave litter. Bikers, near the beginning of the race, many water bottles are found. They bounce out of the cages... With camel backs and other bladders used, maybe avoid using water bottles. GU packs are littered everywhere, please try to use flasks or at least carry out...
***************************************************
Please, No RV Camping at the Vermont 50
There can be NO RV Parking at the Vermont 50 race. Due to the limited number of parking spaces and the number of folks attending this race, there is just no space for RVs.
Please make arrangements to arrive race morning without your RV.

One local option for camping with your RV is Quechee Pine Vally Camp Ground. (802) 296-6711

Another is Running Bear Campground in Ascutney VT. (802) 674-6417

Sustainable Woodstock Helping Keep #VT50 Green #mountainbikes #ultrarun #VT #NH #vtadaptive #WoodstockVT #SustainableWoodstock

http://www.sustainablewoodstock.org/
 THANK YOU

The Race Committee has great news: Sustainable Woodstock is joining our race!

What is Sustainable Woodstock well..
Sustainable Woodstock, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2009. It builds on Woodstock Vermont's legacy as the birthplace of the modern conservation movement in its vision of a vibrant, inclusive, thriving community where people live sustain-ably, now and in the future. Their mission is to inspire, educate and empower everyone to live environmentally, economically and socially responsible lives.
Sustainable Woodstock urges everyone to recycle and compost as many materials as possible. This saves valuable landfill space and energy, and helps make the transition from a wasteful, consumer-oriented lifestyle to one that is more sustain-ably in balance with the ecological capacity of the planet. They will be assisting the Vermont 50 in moving toward a "Greener" Race!

We'll keep you posted as to how our race
will be reducing our waste stream!

We hope you all will join us and help us
Keep Vermont GREEN!
